Aren't the colours in nature amazing? This special piece contains a genuine butterfly wing of the most intriguing irredescent blue colour. It is likely of English origin dating back to the 1920's, as wings from the giant Morpho butterfly were popularly used in jewellery after featuring in the 1924 British Empire Exhibition.
An elegant oval shape, this section of butterfly wing is bezel set as a cabochon and then framed with a pretty dot dash, Deco style border. So as not to compete with the gorgeous natural blue feature, the ring itself is a simple Sterling Silver band.
The nature of this vintage treasure means it is best worn as a dress ring. It is currently very nicely preserved, with some very slight wear comensurate with age.
