This is a particularly nice antique French silver guard chain with applied rose gold accents. It was originally probably up to twice as long but has been shortened sometime in the past 120 years to this very wearable, versatile length and now closes seamlessly with a bolt ring clasp. Slip it over your head and wear it as is, or wrap it twice around for a shorter layered look. This beautiful piece would look equally as good with an antique silver locket or pendant attached and is in immaculate condition.
Note: This chain is unmarked but likely made from continental (800-900) silver which was the French standard at the time. This is slightly lower silver content than the Brittish standard of sterling silver (925) but still of high quality.
